High speed broadband for rural areas is crucial for their economic growth. Today only 17% of adults in rural areas subscribe to broadband compared to 31% in urban and 30% in suburban areas. Benefits such as telemedicine, distance education and civic participation are at stake just to name a few. The Communications Workers Of America are hard at work on their project, Speed Matters.
