Educator, Netrepreneur Growing Digital Terry McGhee, the brains behind the project, provides meaningful work opportunities that gives kids an opportunity to do their best. The Growing Digital Network (GDN) provides online video coverage of local events while teaching Southside Virginia youngsters information technology (IT) skills. Middle and high school students join the network by taking part in Summer and After-School IT Academies hosted by RCATT in Halifax and Danville. The students can then apply their newfound skills by working as network "employees" on various live productions. The Growing Digital Network combines video production technology similar to that used by television news shows with new wireless and videostreaming technologies that enable shows to be webcast over the Internet. |
